This was my first reaction on GoodReads after reading the prologue of Joy Fielding's Shadow Creek.
I am a HUGE fan of Joy Fielding - I've read all of her books - except the very latest 2.. and I've loved them all!
While I usually don't rely on others reviews on whether or not I will read a book - (and same goes for letting other reviewers opinions sway me on my own..) I do like reading other people's comments.
And honestly sometimes I'm shocked - or sometimes I'm like.. "YES.. I AGREE!!" For this book, I don't understand some of the harsh reviews!!
The prologue was shocking to me! So SAD!
That poor old couple! It left me feeling like this:
But it had me guessing - laughing out loud at times.. And crying even a little.. All makings of a great read!!
--I love her writing style. I can always picture exactly what the characters are doing and I like that about descriptive books.
--You really get a feel for the characters - their flaws.. their personality.. you get really engaged in their stories!
--The plot of course is great! I love mystery and thriller novels!
--This book made me feel a wide range of emotions - just like Joy Fielding always does with her novels.. surprise.. excitement.. suspense.. sadness.. anger.. all of it!!
--I really disliked the daughter.. and while I didn't care for her.. at least she had her learning experience in the end..
FINAL GRADE: 5 STARS!!!
